Air-fried French toast sticks



Material

8 slices of thick bread (Texas toast or similar), cut into strips

2 large eggs

1/2 cup milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tablespoon granulated sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon powder

1/4 tsp salt

Cooking spray

Frosting and maple syrup (for consumption

 

Preparation

Preheat the air fryer to 190 °C (375 ° F).

In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, caster sugar, cinnamon powder, and salt until smooth.

Dip each breadstick into the egg wash, making sure all sides are covered in it.

Lightly spray the frying basket with cooking spray.

Place the egg wash-coated breadsticks layer by layer in the air fry basket, making sure they don’t touch each other. Depending on the size of the air fryer, you may need to cook it in batches.

Air fry for 8-10 minutes, turning halfway through, until the French toast is golden brown and crispy.

Remove from fryer and repeat frying remaining bread sticks.

Dip in maple syrup and serve warm.

Preparation method

2. Heat the pan: Place a large skillet on medium heat and add a little butter. Let the butter melt and coat the bottom of the pan.

Dip the bread: Take a slice of bread and dip it in the egg wash, making sure it’s covered on both sides. Let the bread absorb some of the egg wash.

4. Toast: Place the soaked bread slices in a hot pan and bake until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side. Repeat for the rest of the bread slices.

5. Serve: After baking, place the toast on a plate. Drizzle a little maple syrup on top and add your favorite fresh fruit for garnishing.

 

Notes

You can add a little rock sugar on top to add sweetness.

Try adding different spices like nutmeg to change up the flavor.
