Ingredients

500 grams wheat flour

2 tablespoons salt

1 tablespoon sugar

1.5 tablespoons dry yeast

1.5 cups water

3 tablespoons vegetable shortening or oil


Preparation

1. Make a well in the flour and put the yeast and half a cup of water in the middle to dissolve it. Wait 10 minutes for the yeast to activate.

2. Gradually mix the flour with water. Gradually add salt and sugar.

3. Add vegetable shortening or oil and continue to stir the dough vigorously.

4. Knead for 10 minutes until a firm and elastic dough forms. The dough should easily fall off the prep table.

5. Once it reaches a certain consistency, place the dough in a bowl and cover with plastic wrap to prevent the dough from drying out. Let sit until doubled in size. The temperature is 23 º C. It takes approximately 1 hour and the exact time is subject to availability.

6. Flatten the dough and knead vigorously again. Cut into 10 equal pieces.

7. Knead each part into a ball. Then squish slightly to retract the contour inward. Finish by turning the dough slightly towards the center to give it a ball shape. You can sprinkle a little flour on the table to make it easier. Place them on a tray lined with wax paper.

8. Wait a moment to allow the dough to double its size again.

9. Use a knife to cut a slit one centimeter deep along the length of the roll.

10. Bake in a 250 º C oven for 20 minutes until golden brown, then cool for a few minutes.
